Los Blancos

Los Blancos are a five-piece from Carmarthenshire – Gwyn, Osian, Cian, Dewi and Emyr – who have spent the last decade establishing themselves as one of the defining bands in modern Welsh music. Formed through friendship rather than ambition, they emerged from makeshift rehearsal rooms and long nights spent chasing songs, developing a sound that is entirely their own.

Their music is a distinctive collision of slacker rock, shoegaze haze, surf melodies and the occasional alt-country twang, delivered with the kind of chemistry that only comes from years of playing together. Deeply rooted in West Wales but resonating far beyond it, Los Blancos have become one of the most beloved and influential Welsh bands of their generation.

Their debut album Sbwriel Gwyn was nominated for the main prize at the Welsh Music Prize, while its follow-up Llond Llaw was shortlisted for Welsh-language Album of the Year at the National Eisteddfod. In 2019 they received the Triskell Award at the Welsh Music Prize, recognising their originality and cultural impact. In 2022, they were invited to write S4C’s official World Cup anthem.

Now entering their second decade, Los Blancos are working on their third album, produced entirely in-house by drummer Emyr. More than a decade on from those early rehearsals, they remain guided by the same principles that started it all – friendship, curiosity and a belief in following an idea wherever it leads. The result is a body of work that continues to resonate far beyond its origins, securing Los Blancos’ place as one of the most distinctive and enduring voices in contemporary Welsh music.
