Gene Madoc

Gene Madoc is a psychedelic folk artist & songwriter from Cardiff. With literary & cinematic influences at the heart of his songwriting Madoc’s existential lyricism has been described by Clash Music as “effortlessly strong”. Exploring the trappings of modernity and alienation, the influence of writers such as Kafka and Murakami is imbued in his songwriting.

His self-produced debut album ‘Revelation’s Dog’ came out on 19th February 2026. As well as being featured by Bandcamp Daily, the album has drawn comparisons to Rodriguez, Perfume Genius, and Foxwarren; with Analogue Trash calling it “Spellbinding and sublime. Madoc transubstantiates the words into a higher art.”

Informed by the raw spontaneity of folk-revival records, the album was recorded live in Wales over two 14-hour sessions and engineered by Steffan Pringle (Adwaith, Estrons). Of the lyrics Madoc says, “There’s a lot of emphasis on self-help & commoditised revelation in the present culture, so I found myself exploring how Kafkaesque & indoctrinating a lot of that can be.”
