Jodie Marie
Jodie Marie was signed to Decca Records/Universal Music in 2010 and began writing songs with former Suede guitarist and producer Bernard Butler and singer songwriter Ed Harcourt.
Her debut album Mountain Echo (released in 2012 on the Verve imprint) was described by The Guardian as ‘velvety and bittersweet’ and received much critical acclaim, including nomination for the 2012 Welsh Music Prize. She followed this by striking out on her own and self-releasing her second album Trouble in Mind in 2015. The Answer was released in 2021, collaborating again with songwriters Ed Harcourt & Dan Smith (of the Noisettes) and produced by Owain Fleetwood Jenkins, via her label, Carmel Records. Jodie’s latest release, Polar Night (2023 – Carmel Records), was inspired by her time above the Arctic Circle in January 2023, isolated in a cabin on a remote island, surrounded by extreme weather and stories of the indigenous Sámi people.
